Today, Groupe GM, one of the leading international amenities actors, announced the launch of Ecofill, the first refillable cosmetics dispenser on the market that is 100% traceable. The Ecofill dispenser is one of Groupe GM’s Care About Earth initiatives, which aim to reduce the group’s carbon footprint and contribute to sustainability for generations to come.

Groupe GM strives to be a leader and proactive decision-maker in the ecological transition of its products. Through the Care About Earth program – Groupe GM’s comprehensive development initiative covering all the company’s environmental and social actions – Groupe GM highlights its ongoing commitment to the environment. Since the launch of the Care About Earth in 2018, Groupe GM has launched several sustainable initiatives that are helping it to become as environmentally friendly and aware as possible.

“As a company, our priority lies in contributing to a sustainable future. Through our Care About Earth program, we are committed to the protection of the environment and to Corporate Social Responsibility. We are very excited about the launch of our new project, Ecofill. It is an innovative, sustainable and eco-designed dispenser that adds significant value to our portfolio of sustainable initiatives. This dispenser is not just eco-friendly, refillable, reusable and traceable; it is also a clean, safe, fast and easy solution with an environmental impact that is close to zero. Each 400 ml sealed pouch contains just 8 g of recyclable plastic packaging and guarantees full formula traceability. The design is both aesthetic and ensures ease of use,” comments Laurent Marchand, President of Groupe GM.

The Ecofill dispenser has a pure design, is easy to use and can be reassembled quickly once refilled. It is composed of two main elements: a base and an upper part, which are screwed together to form the dispenser. The pouch is then placed inside the dispenser and a pump is used to extract the product. It only takes only few seconds to change the pouch.

Ecofill also has a ‘Stay Clean’ system in place, which makes it more hygienic and less prone to contamination when changing pouches. In comparison to a traditional refill system, the Ecofill dispenser has a zero bacteria risk, as the Ecofill pouch is sealed and is 100% clean and safe with a traceable system in place.

The empty Ecofill pouches are also easy to replace, without being cumbersome to handle. There is a visible bulk level making it easy to plan for when the pouch runs out. The traceability of the pouch complies with EU cosmetics regulations and the product’s origin and quality are guaranteed. Each pouch is also tamper-proof once sealed.

Ecofill significantly reduces plastic consumption and is smart for the planet. It minimizes plastic waste, as each 400 ml pouch uses 8 g of plastic compared to the original bottles, each of which also used 8 g of plastic for a capacity of just 30 ml. This means that during a 40-day period, one 400 ml pouch that uses 8 g of plastic avoids using 33 bottles containing just 30 ml of product for a total of 264 g of plastic. In other words, one 400 ml Ecofill pouch uses 33 times less plastic and there is no product waste, as 98% of the Ecofill is composed of the usable liquid inside the pouch.

The Ecofill dispenser has an aesthetic design that reflects the image of Groupe GM’s clients. Customers looking to use and work with the Ecofill can get a customized design in line with their brand identity. Groupe GM works with companies such as Atelier Cologne, Omnisens and Codage to create an Ecofill version adapted to each client brand. Wall brackets made of stainless steel or ABS plastic are used to attach the dispenser to the wall, using two screws or double-sided tape to ensure a neat and easy-to-access result. The pouches will contain body wash, shampoo, conditioner and other products manufactured by the brands with which we work.

Two videos have been produced to highlight how easy it is to install and clean an Ecofill dispenser, and to support hoteliers in their drive towards sustainability.

“As a company, we work relentlessly to reduce the overall consumption of plastic, non-reusable and non-recyclable materials in our hotel amenities. We constantly aim to minimize excess packaging and prioritize the use of recyclable and recycled materials. Through our Care About Earth program, we have been able to introduce initiatives in favor of plastic reduction, and the Ecofill dispenser is a welcome addition to this portfolio of initiatives. We are looking forward to helping our clients reduce the amount of plastic used in the creation of hotel amenities. Through our continuous innovation and research into more environmentally friendly ways of providing hotel guests with the most luxurious amenities available, we are confident that our initiatives, like the Ecofill dispenser, will significantly reduce plastic and waste in the amenities industry overall,” commented Laurent Marchand, President of Groupe GM.

Today, the Ecofill dispenser is made from either recycled and recyclable plastic with a translucent matt finish, or from recyclable transparent polycarbonate that can be colored. In response to market demands, Groupe GM is also looking at the feasibility of a structure made from glass and aluminum. The pouches are recyclable and have a capacity of 400 ml.
